Online Shrines

The first page that I did for my web site, excluding the home page itself and a few other personal pages, was The Lilith Shrine. It has also proven to be the most popular of all of my pages, having had over 30,000 hits since I moved it to this server from its old address. I was hoping that it would inspire others to do similar shrines to their favorite or patron deities, as well as provide information about Lilith both for those dedicated to Her, as well as those merely curious. At any rate, since I put up my Shrine, others have also put up online shrines and temples, although I don't know for sure any of them were influenced by my Shrine. (In fact, I know that in the case of at least one of these online shrines, the web mistress had thought up the idea of online shrines independently from me at around the same time I did.)

I'd like to link to all online shrines and temples, whether "Pagan" or not. I am not linking to web pages for physical shrines and temples, unless they also contain a virtual shrine. If you know of any shrines or temples that I've overlooked, please contact me and let me know of the URL for the shrine. Thanks!

I've added some new shrines now, with brief descriptions, very brief in some cases. Just because I don't write a long description does not mean that I find a shrine bad; it merely means I couldn't think of much to say about it beyond what it was, and I'd never get around to updating this page if I waited until I thought of something. I am, however, very happy to see so many shrines online now, even if I couldn't find them in time for my article.

Also, for those of you who are interested in the idea of virtual shrines and temples in general, as well as wanting to know more about my inspiration to create the Lilith Shrine, check out my article on the subject in the latest Green Egg. It's called "Virtually Lilith: Virtual Shrines to the Gods," and it appears in vol. 29, no. 120, the August-September 1997 issue.

(For those of you who have seen the older version of my home page, you may have noticed a mention of a Chocolate Shrine. I still do plan eventually to do said Shrine, but I have not had the time to do one that I feel is worthy of the One True Food™. Until that time, I will only have links to online shrines and temples that actually do exist.)
